“Tommy John Surgery” Research Project

You have been asked to take part in a research study because you are an overhead throwing athlete who has been diagnosed with a tear in the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of your throwing arm.  This condition is characterized by pain during throwing motions and difficulty maintaining velocity and control.  As a result of this condition, your doctor has recommended you for UCL reconstruction surgery, also known as Tommy John Surgery.  The purpose of this research study is to compare elbow motion in athletes treated with Tommy John Surgery to athletes with a normal functioning elbow.
